Today we completed Fluency #3 and charted it. We also did a reading comprehension on Checks and Balances within the Federal Government. We charted that and started keeping score of the questions missed. Students will be using REAL time to make up their map test.

Today we took the STAR reading test so we can place students where they need to be within the class but also in a different class if necessary. We finished notes on Hunter/Gatherers and read from Hatchet. On Tuesday we went to the library and checked out books. We started a DVD on Mesopotamia in 3 of the classes. We will finish that Wednesday.

MAP TEST! It's nice to have that over. We finished out test, reviewed how to get into STAR reading for next week and we read from Hatchet.

Map test-If a student didn't get 15 out of 17 correct, they need to study and retake this quiz. They can come in before school or they can do it on Thursday during our first REAL time. We finished coloring our maps and we read from Hatchet.

We completed our Mesopotamia vocabulary during class. If it was not completed, it will be homework. We talked and took notes about Hunter/Gatherers and how we went from there to developing civilizations. We read a couple of pages in Hatchet.

We completed a reading comprehension titled Mesopotamia 101. We reviewed for our map test and took notes on hunting/gathering.

We completed Cloze #1, reviewed our map and started taking notes on Hunter/Gather as they progressed to civilization.

Second Day of School!

Today we reviewed the continents and Oceans. We learned about different types of maps and what types of things must be on a map. We completed the first two worksheets in our packet.

First Week of School
Welcome back to school. I hope you all had a great summer and are ready to get going. Our first two days of school will be learning and reviewing procedures and learning how to do our reading curriculum. Students will get a disclosure; the signature sheet will need to be returned by Friday. Students will have a map test next Friday and a vocabulary test the Friday after that.
